The Softdrinks Beauties—Pepsi Paloma, Coca Nicolas, Myra "Mirinda" Manibog and Sarsi Emmanuel—rose to fame in the 1980s as bold stars who captivated the audience with their daring roles.
Over the years, their legacy has been overshadowed by the controversial rape allegations involving Pepsi Paloma and three prominent personalities: Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, and Richie D’Horsie.
In a recently interview with Kapatid Journalist Julius Babao in this Youtube Channel, the remaining Softdrinks Beauties, Myra Manibog, Coca Nicolas and Sarsi Emmanuel, have come forward with a unified statement regarding the decades-old issue. According to their statement, the allegations surrounding Pepsi Paloma’s alleged r*pe are “not true” and have been blown out of proportion by public speculation and media sensationalism.
Refuting the Allegations
The Softdrinks Beauties emphasized that Pepsi Paloma NEVER discussed or confided in them about any such incident. They claimed that Pepsi, as their close friend and colleague, would have shared such a traumatic experience with them if it had indeed happened.
“Pepsi was someone who valued trust and loyalty. If something that grave had occurred, she wouldn’t have kept it from us,” the three explained in Filipino.
They also pointed out that the dismissal of the case through an affidavit of desistance signed by Pepsi Paloma was a strong indication that the accusations lacked substantial basis.
Defending the Reputation of All Parties Involved
Nicolas, Manibog and Emmanuel expressed their concern over the lasting damage caused by the controversy—not just to Pepsi Paloma’s legacy but also to the reputations of the individuals accused. They appealed to the public to reconsider perpetuating a narrative that might have been rooted in misunderstandings or manipulation.
“We believe in the innocence of the people involved. It’s been decades, and yet this issue continues to resurface without any credible evidence to prove it happened,” the three said.
Respecting Pepsi Paloma’s Memory
While they firmly denied the allegations, the Softdrinks Beauties called for respect toward Pepsi Paloma’s memory. They urged everyone to focus on her contributions to the industry rather than on controversies that may have overshadowed her career.
“Pepsi deserves to be remembered for the vibrant, hardworking woman that she was, not for an unproven story that’s been used to tarnish her name,” they stated.
A Plea to Move Forward
In closing, the three remaining Softdrinks Beauties appealed for closure to this decades-long issue, encouraging the public to move forward and allow all parties to heal. They stressed that continually resurrecting the story does more harm than good and serves no justice to Pepsi Paloma’s legacy.
Their statement serves as a significant counterpoint to the prevailing narratives surrounding the alleged r*pe case. Whether it will help bring clarity or reignite debate remains to be seen, but the Softdrinks Beauties remain firm in their stand: the Pepsi Paloma rape issue is not true.
